Coty Sweet Earth Solid Fragrance Compact From the 1970's

Remember the solid fragrance compacts from Coty Sweet Earth from the 1970s?  Now these compacts have been re-manufactured using the same formulas as the originals.  (See photo above.)  Each compact contains three solid fragrances.

The Seasonal Fragrances features frankincense, myrrh and mistletoe.  The vintage Coty Sweet Earth Rare Flowers Solid Perfume had Tuberose, Jasmine, and Mimosa.  There was another trio compact that had Amberwood, Sandalwood, and Patchouli.

From 1972-1976, Coty released it's Sweet Earth line of perfume essences, including its solid perfume compacts.  The solid perfume compacts came in single scents or trios based on a theme. Each compact had a sticker with a brief description of the scent enclosed which was attached inside the lid.

At the time, several different solid perfume compacts were released.  The Flowers compacts came in different variations on scents.  The Rare Flowers compact included Tuberose, Jasmine, and Mimosa.  The Flowers compact held: Hyacinth, Honeysuckle, and Ylang Ylang.

A similar compact, Wildflowers, held Jasmine, Honeysuckle, and Ylang Ylang. The Grasses compact held: Clover, Gingergrass, Hay.  You could also find another compact holding Amber, Musk, and Sandalwood

The Woods compact held these fragrances: Amberwood, Patchouli, and Sandalwood; While The Herb Fragrances compact held these scents: Chamomile, Sage, and Caraway.  A special Seasonal compact held: Frankincense, Myrrh, Mistletoe (pictured above).

    1. I too remember these as my cousin had the Woods and Grasses collection. They were the first perfume I ever smelled, circa 1974. The reproductions from The Vermont Country Store smell nothing like the original from Coty.

  3. Yes! A Coty compact from long ago inspired me to launch my own natural perfume line. I was struck by a memory of my mother's antique dresser when I was a child. I remember peeking into the top drawer and finding a slim compact of scented waxes. They weren't the acrid spritzes I knew as "perfume." Rather, they evoked rich, resinous aromas of forests, fields, and faraway places. Loved them! I'm compelled to reinvent these solids (which, sadly, contained synthetic chemical ingredients) with truly natural essences at DriftPerfume.com :)
