Now Sold: Bragg Live Products a Health Food Store Diet Staple, Hugely Popular in the 1970's & Beyond

In the 70s Patricia Bragg, daughter-in-law of founder Paul Bragg, becomes CEO of Bragg's Live Food Products. During this time, Bragg's begins to be hugely popular.

She helps steward the company into a new era of growth backed by time-tested wellness established by American alternative health pioneer Paul C. Bragg.

Paul was born in 1895 and passed away in 1976. He opened the first health food store in the United States: Bragg’s Health Food Store.

                                                         PAUL & PATRICIA BRAGG

Paul Bragg, the original founder and healthy lifestyle crusader, along with Patricia Bragg evangelize the healthy lifestyle movement on a global basis with an expanded product line.

Their work together in the 1960's and 1970's was even then already driven by the imperative for healthy living, organic, clean label, and functional food.

Bragg is now owned by Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom who acquired the company in 2019 along with three other investors. They are a part of Swander Pace Capital, investment firm Dragoneer Investment Group.

While seeming like a good fit as Perry and Patricia are said to have been long-time friends, it remains to be seen if Katy, et al., will continue to carry on the tradition as first started by Paul & Patricia.

For now, all of the beloved and well-known staples that have graced many a health-conscious kitchen remain available:

More 'Proof' Timelessness of Quiet Luxury Old Money Aesthetic Clothing Fashion Style from Ralph Lauren in the1980's with Blue-Blood Family Model

EARLY 80's TIMELESS QUIET LUXURY OLD MONEY AESTHETIC CLOTHING

MODEL FROM OLD MONEY EAST COAST FAMILY CIRCA 1984

CLOSE-UP OF THE PRINT FROM THE ABOVE AD PHOTO

The outfit featured  in this print ad from March 5, 1984 is by Ralph Lauren. Mary Jane Marcasiano was the designer for this shoot. She still works in this field today. (Name of model withheld.)

The prices quoted for the articles of clothing - $350 for the linen jacket, $278 for the mid-calf skirt, and $1,250 for the antique pearl-ruby-sapphire-and-gold pin - are quite a lot even for today's standards, but especially in the early 1980's.

However, high quality items fabricated with luxurious materials such as pure fine linen done by a well-known designer, such as Ralph Lauren, will always cost a bit more.

Just like the outfit shown in Part 1, it is truly timeless and could just as easily be worn today. The soft off-white color and elegant classic cut give it a subtle, 'quiet luxury' appeal.

The clothing and accessory brands mentioned in this ad are Ralph Lauren, listed as being 'available' at Bendel's and Bonwit's (both of which are now no longer in business as of 2019 for Bendel's Department Store and 1990 for Bonwit Teller).

Also mentioned are Clarence House Fabrics, and James Robinson jewelry.
