LOVE'S BABY SOFT ORIGINAL SCENT AD - APRIL 1974...

In April 1974, Love Cosmetics began to make a line of Baby Soft products meant for adults. The items were scented with an innocent fragrance most often associated with babies. There was a Baby Soft talc, a body lotion, and a foam bath.

The most popular Baby Soft product, though, was their Body Mist After Bath Spray.  This delightful light mist was very popular with teenagers as well as co-eds and young adults, available in lemon, rain, and original.

The slogan on this ad (above) from the 1970's reads, 'On the theory that softness is what boys find most exciting about girls...'  Baby Soft products were originally priced from $2 to $2.75, and still available at reasonable prices.  Click on an image below to see more:

1970's PURPLE WIND-UP TWIN BELL CLAPPER ALARM CLOCK FROM BRADLEY - RING-A-LING!!

Here's the Purple Alarm Clock that goes with our post on The Perfect 70's Kid's Room

This great 'low-tech' manual, wind-up alarm clock was made by the Bradley Clock Company in the 1970's.

This free-standing clock stood about 4.5 inches high and had glow-in-the-dark hands and hour markers.

The alarm sounds with a brass clapper that strikes each bell on top of the clock of this manual wind-up clock.

Luckily, this feature can also be (manually) turned off by turning the clapper guard on the top - which is also how you turn off the alarm once it has sounded.

There's nothing like waking up to a fun, retro purple clock!

70's PURPLE BEAN BAG CHAIR!

The original Bean Bag Chair was conceived in the late 1960’s by a team of Italian designers. It was pear-shaped (I prefer the round...) and made of leather. Called a “Sacco", when it was mass-produced, it was made of vinyl and filled with polystyrene plastic pellets … materials which had only recently been developed. The Sacco revolutionized the concept of a chair with its rigid, hard surface design.

The Sacco became an instant worldwide phenomenon and a leading icon of the 1970’s. Because a Sacco placed the sitter close to the floor and accommodated a variety of lounging body positions, it met the casual social behavior needs of the times. Consumers liked the fact that the chair molded to each individual’s body shape - and kids loved it!

Coty Sweet Earth Solid Fragrance Compact From the 1970's

Remember the solid fragrance compacts from Coty Sweet Earth from the 1970s?  These original compacts were manufactured using all-natural formulas. Each compact contained three different themed solid fragrances. (See photo above.)

(Now a company is making these same great natural scents in a solid perfume compact of 4 different fragrances to mix, blend or stand alone. Click HERE to see their new line with the same well-loved scents.)

These cute Compact Palettes include Jasmine, Tuberose, Neroli, Patchouli, Honeysuckle, Ylang Ylang, Amberwood & More. Collections include: Citrus, Floral, Essential Oil Notes, Green Notes, Vanilla, Fruits, & Amber Notes.

Coty's Seasonal Fragrances featured frankincense, myrrh and mistletoe.  The vintage Coty Sweet Earth Rare Flowers Solid Perfume had Tuberose, Jasmine, and Mimosa. Another trio compact had Amberwood, Sandalwood, and Patchouli.

From 1972-1976, Coty released it's Sweet Earth line of perfume essences, including its solid perfume Compacts. The solid perfume compacts came in single scents or trios based on a theme. Each compact had a sticker with a brief description of the scent enclosed which was attached inside the lid.

At the time, several different solid perfume compacts were released.  The Flowers compacts came in different variations on scents.  The Rare Flowers compact included Tuberose, Jasmine, and Mimosa.  The Flowers compact held: Hyacinth, Honeysuckle, and Ylang Ylang.

A similar compact, Wildflowers, held Jasmine, Honeysuckle, and Ylang Ylang. The Grasses compact held: Clover, Gingergrass, Hay.  You could also find another compact holding Amber, Musk, and Sandalwood.

The Woods compact held these fragrances: Amberwood, Patchouli, and Sandalwood; While The Herb Fragrances compact held these scents: Chamomile, Sage, and Caraway.  A special Seasonal compact held: Frankincense, Myrrh, Mistletoe (pictured above).
