CLOSE-UP OF THE PRINT FROM THE ABOVE AD PHOTO

Mary Jane Marcasiano, 68, was the fashion designer for this shoot. She still works in this field today. The crystal fish bowl and pedestal are by Elsa Peretti from Tiffany & Co.

The prices quoted for the articles of clothing - $212 for the sweater, $300 for the vest, $220 for the shawl, and $200 for the earrings - are a little 'pricey' even for today's standards, not to mention in the early 1980's.

However, high quality luxurious materials were used in the fabrication such as hand-loomed cotton gauze, handwoven silk-and-linen, as well as gold leaf for the earrings.

This outfit is truly timeless and could just as easily be worn today. The soft pastel colors and muted plaid give it a subtle and elegant appeal. (Model intentionally not named.)

The clothing and accessory brands mentioned in this ad are If Boutique, Ted Muehling, Bloomingdale's, Macy's and Bonwit Teller (which is now no longer in business as of 1990).
