I Guess I'm in a 70's Mood!
HISTORY: Super fun - and super popular - ring from the 1970's.
The first Mood Rings were sold at Bonwit Teller in New York City, and rapidly became an iconic fad of the 70s.
HOW IT WORKS: A mood ring is a ring which contains a thermochromic element, such as liquid crystal.
Changes in temperature cause the crystal to reflect different wavelengths of light which changes the color of the stone.
WHAT IT MEANS: The ring changes color in response to body temperature. The color is said to indicate the emotional state of the wearer.
This is due to the fact that when we're stressed, blood leaves the extremities leaving them cold, and the opposite when we are happy.
