Both Neil Diamond and Gordon Lightfoot have been active in the music business from the 1960's to the Present, but were both especially popular in the 1970's.

They are both in their 80's now, but still making appearances. Their music styles differ somewhat, but also have many similarities.

Gordon Lightfoot hails from Canada, while Neil Diamond is a singer / songwriter from America. Both were very prolific with many albums as well as singles and several #1 hits.

Lightfoot's discography comprises 19 studio albums, three live albums, 16 greatest hits albums and 46 singles, and Neil Diamond is said to have 57 albums and 549 releases to date.

Gordon Lightfoot's style is somewhat less heavy than that of Neil Diamond with many beautiful ballads such as 'If You Could Read My Mind" and Carefree Highway.

However, others have a similar feel to Neil's such as Rainy Day People and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. In fact, Rainy Day People would work perfectly in a medley with Diamond's Cracklin' Rosy.

The Edmund Fitzgerald has that same heavy 'slogging through mud with lead boots' as Hello Again, September Morn and (Coming to) America.

Gordon is a good mix between the stylings of Diamond and Jim Croce, also popular in the 60's and 70's. Croce has many beautiful and haunting songs such as Time in a Bottle, Operator, and I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song.

The music from all three of these artists has been featured in movies, television and even commercials. We're fortunate to have this beautiful music that they have brought to us.

Lightfoot has also acted in a handful of movies such as Harry Tracy: Last of the Wild Bunch as Marshal Morrie Nathan with Bruce Dern and Helen Shaver, and he is even featured on the movie cover photo.

S&H GREEN STAMPS IDEA BOOK FROM THE 1970's c. 1971

S&H GREEN STAMPS IDEA BOOK FROM THE 1970's

                S & H IDEABOOK 1971 EDITION - "75 YEARS OF EXCITING GIFTS"

S&H Green Stamps was a line of trading stamps popular in the United States from 1896 until the late 1980s. They were distributed as part of a rewards program.

It was operated by the Sperry & Hutchinson company (S&H), founded in 1896 by Thomas Sperry and Shelley Byron Hutchinson.

During the 1960s, the company issued more stamps than the U.S. Postal Service, and distributed 35 million catalogs a year.

Although this program ended in the 1980's, you can still re-live the nostalgic excitement of Green Stamps with these items below:
